Bat Trang Pottery Village – But Thap Pagoda – Dong Ho Village (L)
After breakfast, meet your guide and driver at the hotel and depart for Bat Trang Pottery Village, one of Vietnam’s most renowned traditional craft villages, located on the banks of the Red River, about 15 km southeast of Hanoi.
With a history dating back more than 700 years, Bat Trang has long been famous for its exquisite ceramics and pottery. Upon arrival, stroll through the village’s narrow lanes lined with workshops, artisan houses, and pottery stores displaying a wide variety of handcrafted products. Visit local workshops to learn about traditional ceramic-making techniques that have been passed down through generations. You will also have the opportunity to decorate your own ceramic item, such as a cup or small vase, creating a unique souvenir to take home.
Continue to But Thap Pagoda, one of the most important and beautiful Buddhist temples in northern Vietnam. Renowned for its remarkable architecture and priceless collection of ancient wooden sculptures, including the famous Thousand-Armed and Thousand-Eyed Bodhisattva statue, the pagoda offers a fascinating insight into Vietnam’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before proceeding to Dong Ho Folk Painting Village, the birthplace of Vietnam’s traditional woodblock paintings. Explore the village and discover the centuries-old art of Dong Ho paintings, known for their vivid colors, symbolic meanings, and depictions of everyday rural life. Meet local artisans and learn about the traditional printing process that has made this craft famous throughout the country.
In the late afternoon, return to Hanoi and transfer back to your hotel.
